The first step towards a successful dosing program with ATI Essentials is to properly dilute each bottle. Below are a couple procedures to make this a quick and painless process. While the process is simple and straightforward, it is very important to follow each step carefully.
Please mix up the entire bottle of each Essentials bottle. Please do not try to create partial batches as due to settling in the bottles this can varying concentrations of chemicals from batch to batch.
Recommended Option:
- Purchase the following online from Home Depot:
- 1x 5-Gal. Natural Multi Mix Bucket (Pack of 3)
- 1x Easy Off Natural Lid for 5-Gal. Pail (Pack of 3) (Any liquid storage container with lids and a capacity of at least 10 liters with clearly marked graduations in liters will work.)
- Label the buckets and lids #1, #2 and #3
- Pour Essentials #1, #2, and #3 into their respective buckets and then top them off up to the 10L mark with RO-DI water.
- Mix solution #1 with a powerhead to ensure the powder has dissolved completely and the solution is clear prior to using. Failure to do so could cause your tank to crash.
Alternative Option:
The items recommended below should be available at your local Home Depot, so if you want to get going right away this is probably your best option.
- Purchase the following from your local Home Depot:
- Label the buckets and lids #1, #2 and #3
- Pour Essentials #1, #2, and #3 into their respective buckets and then add the following amount of RO-DI to each bucket.
- Bucket 1: Essentials #1 (the powder) + 9.6 Liters of RO-DI (5 liters + 4.6 liters)
- Bucket 2: Essentials #2 + 9 Liters of RO-DI (5 liters + 4 liters)
- Bucket 3: Essentials #3 + 9 Liters of RO-DI (5 liters + 4 liters)
- Mix solution #1 with a powerhead to ensure the powder has dissolved completely and the solution is clear prior to using. Failure to do so could cause your tank to crash.
You now have 3 properly mixed, 10-liter solutions of Essentials #1, Essentials #2 and Essentials #3 that are ready be added to your dosing container or dosed directly to your aquarium.
